Inspiring ‘Together for a Cure’ MS Luncheon in OC

08.02.23

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is excited to announce the highly anticipated annual event, the 'Together for a Cure' luncheon in Orange County. occasion, slated for Saturday, August 19, at the elegant Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, promises an uplifting experience with inspirational speakers, a delectable gourmet brunch, a silent auction, a wine pull, and more. The primary objective is to raise funds for global MS research and vital local programs supporting MS patients.

Previously known as 'Bubbles & Brunch to End MS,' this luncheon has already made a significant impact, having successfully raised over $1 million since its inception. The event aims to increase awareness about multiple sclerosis, a debilitating disease affecting nearly one million people in the United States and over 2.8 million worldwide.

ABC7 reporter and meteorologist, Brianna Ruffalo, will be the esteemed emcee, graciously welcoming all guests to the occasion.

The keynote speaker, Melinda Thrasher, holds a special place in the hearts of the local MS community. Recognized with the 2022 Bike MS Most Inspirational Rider Award and leading the Orange County Community Council, Melinda's inspiring journey of living with MS will undoubtedly resonate with the audience.

The 2023 Impact Award will be bestowed upon Wescom Credit Union, a financial services company with 24 locations throughout Southern California, including Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. Wescom's generous support includes investments of nearly $4 million in nonprofit organizations in the region, and their dedicated Bike MS team, Team Wescom, has raised an impressive $1.6 million for the Pacific South Coast Chapter since 2007.

Moreover, attendees will have the privilege of receiving an informative update on MS research and treatment progress from Dr. Yasir Jassam, Director of the Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Program at Hoag Hospital. While a cure for MS remains elusive, significant advancements in treatment options have improved the quality of life for many patients.

The event's success is made possible by the generous sponsorship of TG Therapeutics, Biogen, Hoag Hospital, Octave Bio, and Novartis. Their unwavering commitment to our cause is deeply appreciated.
